Section XXV-157 - Containment StructuresA. Containment structures shall meet all of the following requirements: 1. shall be constructed of steel, reinforced concrete or other rigid material capable of withstanding the full hydrostatic head and load of any substances, equipment and appurtenances placed on the structure;2. shall be compatible with the pesticides stored within the structure;3. shall be liquid-tight with cracks, seams and joints sealed;4. shall not be constructed of natural earthen material, unfired clay and asphalt;5. shall protect appurtenances and containers against damage from personnel and moving equipment;6. shall seal appurtenances, discharge outlets or drains through the base or wall of existing containment structures, except direct connections between containment structures;7. shall not configure appurtenances, discharge outlets or drains through the base or wall of new containment structures, except direct connections between containment structures;8. shall control stormwater in all containment structures by constructing with sufficient freeboard to contain precipitation and prevent water and other liquids from seeping into or flowing onto them from adjacent land or structures.B. Containment structures for new and existing secondary containment shall meet the following requirements. 1. Liquid pesticide stationary containers shall be anchored or elevated to prevent flotation.2. Dry pesticide stationary containers shall: a. be protected from wind and precipitation; andb. be on pallets or raised concrete; andc. have a floor that extends completely beneath the pallets or raised concrete platforms; andd. be enclosed by a curb a minimum of 6 inches high that extends at least 2 feet beyond the perimeter of the container.La.
