Section LIX-903 - Standard 2
A. Students will demonstrate the ability to access and evaluate the validity of health information and health-promoting products and services.
B. Benchmarks 5-8. By the end of grades 5-8 level students should know and be able to:

locate valid health information using various sources (e.g., Internet, videos, print, television, etc.);

identify how media influences the selection of health information and products;

locate and evaluate functions of community health agencies and professional health services (e.g., hospitals, emergency care, substance abuse centers, volunteer organizations, etc.); and

examine the effectiveness of health products and services (e.g., sun blocks, cosmetics, over-the-counter medicines, etc.).
