Section III-1723 - Data ControlA. Where a computer file may be accessed by more than one agency, system software shall ensure that each agency shall obtain only the data to which it is entitled. System hardware and software shall contain controls to ensure that each user with on-line direct terminal access can obtain only reports authorized for its use. System software shall be implemented to erase and clear core, buffers, mass storage, and peripheral equipment of data automatically whenever purging is required by these regulations. Duplicate computer files shall be created as a countermeasure for destruction of original files and all computer tapes or discs shall be locked in a safe storage area under the control of senior personnel.
