Rule 701-72.10 - Appointment of deputy assessors

(1) The appointments of deputy assessors holding regular certificates shall expire upon the death, resignation, or removal of the assessor, except that the appointment of the chief deputy assessor shall not expire until the appointment of a new assessor, nor shall the restricted certificate of a deputy assessor expire at that time.

(2) After the appointment of a new assessor, the assessor may appoint one or more deputy assessors from the registers of persons certified as eligible for appointment as assessor or deputy assessor The assessor shall notify the director immediately of persons appointed as deputy assessors, the vacating of office by a deputy assessor, or a change in a deputy assessor's legal name.

This rule is intended to implement Iowa Code sections 441.5, 441.10 and 441.11.
