It is the purpose of this chapter to give guidance and direction for the establishment, general operating powers and duties, funding, performance, and oversight of charter schools. All charter schools in Iowa are a part of the state's program of public education. Charter schools established prior to July 1, 2021, shall continue to operate under and be subject to the requirements of Iowa Code chapter 256F and 281-Chapter 68.
