Sec. 17.
(a) It is the policy of the commission to review and accept appropriate settlements. Nothing contained in this section shall be construed as precluding parties in a proceeding from submitting, prior to the issuance of a final order in the proceeding, settlement proposals or from requesting a hearing for that purpose.(b) Settlement agreements by some or all of the parties to a proceeding may be filed with the commission and received into evidence as part of the record of the proceeding.(c) The commission may reject, in whole or in part, a proposed settlement under this section if the commission determines that the settlement is not in the public interest.
