Section 4-41-25 - Application of tolerances

As applied in this chapter and unless otherwise specified, averages for the entire lot, based on examination of representative samples, shall be within the tolerances specified in the grade, but the contents of individual packages or containers in any lot may vary from the specified tolerances, subject to the following limitations:

(1) When the tolerance specified is more than five per cent, individual packages or containers in any lot may contain not more than one and one-half times the tolerance, provided at least one specimen which fails to meet the requirements of the grade shall be permitted in any package or container; and
(2) When the tolerance specified is five per cent or less, individual packages or containers in any lot may contain not more than double the tolerance, provided at least one specimen which fails to meet the requirements of the grade shall be permitted in any package or container.
