Section 19-139-106 - Driving simulator curriculum

To obtain certification by the department, all driving simulator curricula shall contain the following instructional elements:

(1) Content is consistent with the requirements of section 19-139-104, as practicable;
(2) Content is presented with an emphasis on behavioral patterns rather than on Cask completion;
(3) The simulator reinforces previous learning and continues to prepare student for in-vehicle training;
(4) The simulator acts as a tool to monitor and measure the effectiveness of student learning in the classroom to ensure student vehicle readiness;
(5) Simulators meet all of the requirements of subchapter 6 and are in good working condition;
(6) The curriculum must be integrated with driver education classroom curricula;
(7) The provider of the simulator curriculum shall communicate to the parents or guardians, how to integrate simulator instruction with practice behind-the-wheel driving; and
(8) The provider of the simulator curriculum shall provide the student with a simulator completion certificate that the student shall give to the behind-the-wheel instructor. This certificate shall fulfill four hours of the required six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction.
(b) The department may certify driver simulator curricula to qualify students to satisfy four hours of the behind-the-wheel requirement for a student completion certificate,
