Section 12-221.1-5 - ClearancesThe following shall apply to clearances:
(1) For pressure retaining items installed prior to January 1986, a recommended clearance of three (3) feet between the top of the boiler proper and the ceiling and three (3) feet between all sides of the boiler and adjacent walls or other structures is required;(2) For all pressure retaining items installed after January 1986, refer to applicable chapters in this part for the specific type of equipment;(3) Pressure retaining items having manholes shall have at least five (5) feet clearance from the manhole opening and any wall, ceiling, or piping to permit egress or entry;(4) All pressure retaining items shall have adequate space for their proper operation, including appurtenances; and(5) All pressure retaining items shall have adequate space to facilitate the inspection necessary, maintenance, repair, and replacement of all tubes, waterwalls, economizers, piping, valves, and other equipment for their necessary maintenance and repair.Haw.
