Employees of the School of Law shall be encouraged to exercise their full rights as citizens to participate in political activities to the extent that those activities are not expressly prohibited by law (including the provisions of subchapter III, chapter 73, of Title 5 of the United States Code) and are not in conflict with an employee's duties at the School of Law.
An employee shall immediately notify his or her supervisor and the Dean upon becoming an official candidate for public office.
The Dean shall encourage an employee who is a candidate for public office to take leave of absence.
An employee may request and be granted leave without pay or accrued annual leave for the purpose of engaging in activities related to his or her candidacy, in accordance with the provisions of chapter 13 of this title. The provisions of this subsection shall also apply to an employee who wishes to take leave of absence to work in the political campaign of another person.
