A waiver of program requirements shall be granted for so long as necessary to ensure that the recipient is able safely to comply with the program requirements.
The Director or his or her designee may exempt an assistance unit from the sixty (60) month time limit for receipt of TANF benefits if the assistance unit includes an individual who needs continued assistance because he or she is currently experiencing, has experienced, or is at risk of experiencing battery or extreme cruelty as set forth in Section 511 a(e) of the District of Columbia Public Assistance Act of 1982, as amended (D.C. Law 12-241; D.C. Official Code Section 4-205.11 a(e)).
