Rule 29-530 - EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS: PROGRAM INTERNSHIPS

530.1

Each EMS education program, with the exception of Emergency Medical Responder education programs, provided by an EMS educational institution shall provide students with access to field internships with appropriate medical oversight and supervision within any District-approved Emergency Medical Services Agency. Each internship shall include:

(a) Patient assessments;

(b) EMS orientation;

(c) Additional components as required by the National Education Standards; and

(d) Additional components as may be required by DOH.

530.2

If the field internship is located outside the District of Columbia, the educational institution offering the education program of which the internship is a part shall:

(a) Comply with the laws of the state where the field internships are located; and

(b) Notify the appropriate EMS officials in the state where the field internships are located of the presence of program students in those internships.
