Part 17 - ANESTHESIA SERVICES
17.1 Applicability
(A) Anesthesia services are optional for community clinics and community clinics with inpatient beds. If anesthesia services are provided at the facility, the CC shall meet the requirements of this Part 17.
(B) All community clinics providing emergency services shall meet the requirements of this Part 17.
17.2 Procedural sedation or regional anesthesia shall only be administered by qualified providers in accordance with their scope of practice, nationally recognized practice standards, state practice acts and regulations, and clinical privileges granted by the facility.
17.3 All community clinics offering anesthesia services shall develop and implement policies and procedures regarding:
(A) The qualifications and responsibilities of persons administering procedural sedation or regional anesthesia, including the level of supervision required.
(B) Patient education and informed consent.
(C) Patient assessment as appropriate to the patient and the level of sedation/anesthesia being used.
(D) Patient monitoring during the provision of procedural sedation or regional anesthesia.
(E) The safe discharge of patients who have undergone sedation or anesthesia.
