Subsection [BS] 502.4 - Existing structural elements carrying gravity load

Delete the words design dead, live or snow load, including snow drift effects, of more than 5 percent from first sentence and add the following sentence to end of section.

The increase in gravity loads or decrease in capacity shall account for the cumulative effects of additions and or alterations since original construction.

Add the following exception.

2. Structural elements whose demand capacity ratio is not increased by more than 5%.

Revise section as follows.
