Section 1408.7 - Avocados, Freezing InjuryNotwithstanding the provisions of Section 1408.5, avocados shall be considered damaged by freezing injury when:
(a) There is any amount of bronze color on the outside surface of the skin; or(b) There is any amount of water-soaked discoloration of the flesh adjacent to the skin as determined on the surface of a transverse cut made at least 1 inch from the stem end of the fruit; or(c) Any discoloration or desiccation of the flesh occurs on a transverse cut made at least 1 inch from either the stem or distal end of the fruit, or on either such cut surface if it covers an aggregate area of more than 1/2 inch in diameter; or(d) Ten or more vascular fiber bundles, which are as dark as the color guide established by the Director, appear on the surface of a transverse cut made at least 1 inch from the stem end of the fruit; or(e) There is any internal void as determined on the surface of a transverse cut made at least 1 inch from either the stem or distal end of the fruit.Cal.
