Section 7 AAC 35.310 - Investigating reported deaths,(a) A medicolegal death investigator shall perform, for the state medical examiner, a medicolegal death investigation of each death reported under AS 12.65.005.(b) The state medical examiner, after evaluating all available information gathered during the medicolegal death investigation, may (1) assume jurisdication for the purpose of performing the remainder of the medical death investigation under AS 12.65.020;(2) determine whether to transport the body to the office or another location for an examination;(3) determine the manner and cause of death; and(4) determine or confirm identity.
