Section 17 AAC 28.030 - Specially designated highways(a) Buses described in 17 AAC 28.020(b) may operate without an oversized vehicle permit upon the following portions of the state highway system(1) the Alaska Highway, Alaska Route 2 (AK-2) from Fairbanks (Gaffney Road Junction) to the Canadian Border;(2) Richardson Highway, Alaska Route 4 (AK-4) from Delta Junction to Valdez (Ferry Terminal);(3) Glenn Highway, Alaska Route 1 (AK-1) from Anchorage (Gambell Street at its intersection with East Fifth Avenue) to Glennallen;(4) Tok Cutoff, AK-1 from Tok to its junction with AK-4;(5) Seward Highway, Alaska Route 9 (AK-9) from Seward (Ferry Terminal) to its junction with AK-1;(6) Seward Highway, AK-1 from its junction with AK-9 to Anchorage (Gambell Street at its intersection with East Fifth Avenue);(7) Sterling Highway, AK-1 from Homer (Ferry Terminal) to its junction with AK-9;(8) Parks Highway, Alaska Route 3 (AK-3) from its junction with AK-1 to Fairbanks (Gaffney Road Junction);(9) Steese Highway, Alaska Route 6 (AK-6) from its junction with Alaska Route 2 (AK-2) (at Fox) to Circle;(10) Dalton Highway, Alaska Route 11 (AK-11) from its junction with AK-6 (near Livengood) to Deadhorse;(11) Steese Highway, AK-2 from Fairbanks (Gaffney Road Junction) to its junction with AK-6 (at Fox);(12) Elliot Highway, AK-2 from its junction with AK-6 (at Fox) to its junction with AK-11 (near Livengood);(13) Haines Highway, Alaska Route 7 (AK-7) from Haines (Ferry Terminal) to the Canadian Border;(14) Klondike Highway, Alaska Route 98 (AK-98) from Skagway (Ferry Terminal) to the Canadian Border;(15) Egan Drive and Glacier Highway, Alaska Route 7 (AK-7) from Juneau (Main Street at its intersection with Egan Drive) to Echo Cove; and(16) Mendenhall Loop Road from its junction with AK-7 to Mendenhall Glacier Visitors Center.(b) Articulated buses meeting the requirements of 17 AAC 28.020(c) may operate with an oversized vehicle with permit upon the following portions of the state highway system(1) Alaska Highway, Alaska Route 2 (AK-2) from Fairbanks (Gaffney Road Junction) to the Canadian Border;(2) Richardson Highway, Alaska Route 4 (AK-4) from Valdez (Ferry Terminal) to Delta Junction;(3) Glenn Highway, Alaska Route 1 (AK-1) from Anchorage (Gambell Street at its intersection with East Fifth Avenue) to Glennallen;(4) Tok Cutoff, AK-1 from its junction with AK-4 to Tok;(5) Seward Highway, Alaska Route 9 (AK-9) from Seward (Ferry Terminal) to its junction with AK-1;(6) Sterling Highway, AK-1 from Homer (Ferry Terminal) to its junction with AK-9;(7) Seward Highway, AK-1 from its junction with AK-9 to Anchorage (Gambell Street at its intersection with East Fifth Avenue);(8) Parks Highway, Alaska Route 3 (AK-3) from its junction with AK-1 to Fairbanks (Gaffney Road Junction);(9) Steese Highway, Alaska Route 6 (AK-6) from its junction with Alaska Route 2 (AK-2) (at Fox) to Circle;(10) Haines Highway, Alaska Route 7 (AK-7) from Haines (Ferry Terminal) to the Canadian Border; and(11) Klondike Highway, Alaska Route 98 (AK-98) from Skagway (Ferry Terminal) to the Canadian Border.(c) In addition to the highways specially designated in this section, a bus operating under an oversize vehicle permit may travel five miles off the designated highways to reach places for fuel, maintenance, or passenger services.Eff. 12/29/93, Register 128Authority:AS 19.05.020
