Section 975.01 - End of commitments; declaration of policy(1) No person may be committed under this chapter after July 1, 1980.(2) The legislature finds and declares that persons violating s. 940.225, 948.02, 948.025 or 948.06 or committing crimes when motivated by a desire for sexual excitement may be in need of specialized treatment. The trial court had no authority to vacate a sex crimes act commitment for the purpose of sentencing the offender under the criminal code. State v. Machner, 101 Wis. 2d 79, 303 N.W.2d 633 (1981).
