Section 6603i - Landfill closure grants(a) The Secretary is authorized to award grants to municipalities and solid waste management districts for the portion of the cost of closure of unlined landfills receiving municipal solid waste located within the municipality or district. These grants shall be available to assist in the closure of any existing unlined landfills accepting solid waste as of June 9, 1992.(b) The amount of any grants made under this section shall not exceed the actual costs of closure of the facility, minus an amount equal to the total tonnage of waste disposed at the facility between July 1, 1989 and the last date of acceptance of solid waste for disposal at the facility, multiplied by $24.00 per ton. Eligible closure costs shall include all necessary construction costs, a reasonable cost for engineering oversight, and an amount, not to exceed five percent or $50,000.00, whichever is less, of the construction costs, to cover the legal, administrative, and fiscal costs.Added 1991, No. 256 (Adj.
