Section 36-7a-601 - State participation in The Energy Council - Membership - Duties(1) As used in this section, "member" means a legislator appointed under the requirements of this section to participate in The Energy Council.(2) The Legislature shall participate in and appoint members to The Energy Council, a nonpartisan legislative organization that provides a forum for legislators from energy producing states to discuss and collaborate on energy policy.(3) The Legislature shall appoint four members to The Energy Council as follows: (a) two senators, appointed by the president of the Senate; and(b) two representatives, appointed by the speaker of the House.(4) Members shall: (a) as able, participate in conferences and meetings of The Energy Council; and(b) upon request, report on their activities to the Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment Interim Committee and the Public Utilities, Energy, and Technology Interim Committee.(5) The compensation and expenses of a member shall be paid in accordance with Section 36-2-2 and Legislative Joint Rules, Title 5, Lodging, Meal, and Transportation Expenses.(6) The Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel shall provide staff assistance to a member as requested.Added by Chapter 228, 2023 General Session ,§ 1, eff. 5/3/2023.
