Section 6133 - Chiefs of Staff for Senate Majority and Minority Leaders; appointment; compensation
(a) There is established within the Offices of the Majority and Minority Leaders the positions of Chief of Staff for the Majority Leader and Chief of Staff for the Minority Leader, respectively. Individuals appointed to such positions by the Majority Leader and Minority Leader, respectively, shall receive compensation at a rate fixed by the appropriate Leader.
(b) Gross compensation for employees filling positions established by subsection (a) for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1987, shall be paid out of any funds available in the Senate appropriation for such year under the item "Salaries, Officers and Employees".

EFFECTIVE DATE OF 2019 AMENDMENT Amendment by Pub. L. 116-94 effective on the later of the first day of the first applicable pay period beginning on or after Jan. 1, 2020, or the first day of the first applicable pay period beginning on or after Dec. 20, 2019, see section 212(c) of Pub. L. 116-94 set out as a note under section 282b of this title.

EFFECTIVE DATE Pub. L. 101-163, title I, §9, Nov. 21, 1989, 103 Stat. 1046, provided that this section is effective on Jan. 28, 1987, the date on which Senate Resolution No. 89, One Hundredth Congress, was agreed to.
