Section 51.405 - Continuing Education(a) The department shall recognize, prepare, or administer continuing education programs for license holders. A license holder must participate in the programs to the extent required by the commission to keep the person's license.(b) Notwithstanding other law, the commission by rule may:(1) establish a minimum number of hours of continuing education required for license renewal;(2) provide for the registration and renewal of continuing education providers and the approval of continuing education courses; and(3) assess reasonable and necessary fees on continuing education providers.(c) In adopting rules under this section for a program regulated by the department, the commission shall consult, if applicable, with the advisory board established for the program.Amended by Acts 2021, Texas Acts of the 87th Leg. - Regular Session, ch. 663,Sec. 1.12, eff. 9/1/2021.Added by Acts 2003, 78th Leg., ch. 816, Sec. 1.019, eff. 9/1/2003.
