Section 552.906 - Municipal Utility Plants(a) This section applies only to a general-law municipality that owns a utility plant that provides utility service.(b) The governing body of a municipality may:(1) by ordinance regulate the rates and compensation charged the public by the municipality for utility service;(2) establish and operate a plant to manufacture, generate, or produce utility service; and(3) sell and distribute utility service to the public in the municipality's boundaries.(c) In this section, "utility service" means the provision of water, sewer service, gas, electric energy, or a substance used for lighting, heat, or power.Tex.
