Section 504.001 - Definitions In this chapter, unless a different meaning is plainly required by the context:
(1) "Division" means the division of workers' compensation of the Texas Department of Insurance.(2) "Employee" means: (A) a person in the service of a political subdivision who has been employed as provided by law; or(B) a person for whom optional coverage is provided under Section 504.012 or 504.013.(3) "Political subdivision" means a county, municipality, special district, school district, junior college district, housing authority, community center established under Subchapter A, Chapter 534, Health and Safety Code, or any other legally constituted political subdivision of the state.
