Section 501.012 - Family Liaison Officer The director of the institutional division shall designate one employee at each facility operated by the institutional division to serve as family liaison officer for that facility. The family liaison officer shall facilitate the maintenance of ties between inmates and their families for the purpose of reducing recidivism. Each family liaison officer shall:
(1) provide inmates' relatives with information about the classification status, location, and health of inmates in the facility;(2) notify inmates about emergencies involving their families and provide inmates with other necessary information relating to their families; and(3) assist inmates' relatives and other persons during visits with inmates and aid those persons in resolving problems that may affect permitted contact with inmates.Tex.
