Section 24.160 - 58th Judicial District (Jefferson County)(a) The 58th Judicial District is composed of Jefferson County.(b) The 58th, 60th, and 136th district courts have concurrent jurisdiction.(c) The terms of the 58th and 60th district courts begin on the first Mondays in January and July. The first term is designated the January-June term, and the second term is designated the July-December term.(d) In all suits, actions, and proceedings, it is sufficient for the address or designation to be "District Court of Jefferson County."(e) The 58th, 60th, and 136th district courts may sit at the City of Port Arthur, in addition to Beaumont, to try, hear, and determine nonjury cases and to hear and determine motions, arguments, and the other nonjury matters that are within the jurisdiction of the courts. The district clerk or his deputy serves as clerk of a court when it sits in Port Arthur and may transfer all necessary books, minutes, records, and papers to Port Arthur while the court is in session there and transfer them from Port Arthur to Beaumont at the end of each session in Port Arthur. The Commissioners Court of Jefferson County may provide suitable quarters in the subcourthouse in Port Arthur for a court while it sits in Port Arthur. The Jefferson County sheriff or the sheriff's deputy shall attend the courts in Port Arthur and perform all duties required by law or court order.Tex. Gov't. Code § 24.160
