Section 54.537 - Fees for Student Services Building; the University of Texas At Austin(a) The board of regents of The University of Texas System may charge each student enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin a fee not to exceed $1.10 per registered semester hour. The fee may be used only for financing the construction, repair, maintenance, renovation, improvement, or replacement of a student services building at the university or for operating the student services building.(b) The university shall collect the student services building fee imposed under this section and deposit the money collected into an account to be known as the student services building account. The money collected and placed in the account may be used only to:(1) finance the construction, repair, maintenance, renovation, improvement, or replacement of a student services building and be pledged for the payment of obligations issued for those purposes; or(2) operate the student services building.(c) A fee may not be imposed under this section until the semester in which a student services building will be available for use.(d) The student services building fee imposed under this section shall not be counted in determining the maximum student services fee which may be charged to the students of The University of Texas at Austin under this subchapter.(e) The powers granted to the board of regents under this section are cumulative of all other powers granted to that board.Amended by Acts 1999, 76th Leg., ch. 1558, Sec. 4, eff. 6/19/1999.Added by Acts 1991, 72nd Leg., ch. 839, Sec. 2, eff. 8/26/1991.
