Section 51.947 - Payroll Deductions for Certain Organizations(a) An employee of an institution of higher education may authorize a deduction each pay period from the employee's salary or wage payment for: (1) a contribution to an institution of higher education; or(2) a charitable contribution to a nonprofit organization the purpose of which is to support the programs of an institution of higher education.(b) To be eligible to receive charitable contributions under this section, a nonprofit organization must comply with the rules adopted under Section 2255.001, Government Code, by the institution of higher education the organization supports.(c) An institution of higher education shall establish procedures to enable an employee of the institution to authorize a deduction under this section.(d) In this section, "institution of higher education" has the meaning assigned by Section 61.003.Added by Acts 1999, 76th Leg., ch. 307, Sec. 1, eff. 5/29/1999.
