Section 29.917 - Higher Education and Workforce Readiness Programs(a) From funds appropriated for the purpose, the commissioner may award grants to organizations that provide volunteers to teach classroom or after-school programs to enhance:(3) dropout prevention; or(4) personal financial literacy.(b) To implement or administer a program under this section, the commissioner may accept gifts, grants, and donations from public or private entities.(c) The commissioner may conduct a study of the programs under this section to determine the success of the programs in preparing students for higher education and participation in the workforce.Added by Acts 2007, 80th Leg., R.S., Ch. 1058, Sec. 12, eff. 6/15/2007.
