Section 56-7-3710 - [Effective 1/1/2025] Prior authorization and opioid use disorder(a) A utilization review organization and health carrier shall not require prior authorization for prescription drugs labeled by the United States food and drug administration for the treatment of opioid use disorder.(b) This section does not require a policy to cover any care, treatment, or services for a health condition that the terms of coverage otherwise completely exclude from the policy's covered benefits without regard for whether the care, treatment, or services are medically necessary unless otherwise required by law.(c) This section does not apply to behavioral health inpatient services.Amended by 2023 Tenn.
