Section 1502-A - Group life insurance(a) Procurement by department.--Except as provided under subsection (b), the department, with the approval of the Governor and with the advice of the Insurance Commissioner, shall procure from one or more life insurance companies, authorized to do business in this Commonwealth, a policy or policies of group life insurance covering eligible employees.(b) Legislative branch.--Upon written notice to the secretary, an individual agency of the General Assembly may procure life insurance for its eligible employees, including members of the General Assembly, in place of life insurance available under subsection (a). Any life insurance procured under this subsection shall, at a minimum, meet the requirements of sections 1503-A, 1504-A, 1505-A, 1506-A and 1508-A.(c) Eligibility.--An employee under subsection (a) or (b) in active service shall be eligible for life insurance under this article if the employee has completed three months' continuous service as an employee under subsection (a) or (b).
