Section 344 - Employment of juveniles(a) Whenever, in the judgment of the superintendent of a youth development center, the rehabilitation of a committed minor will be served by his full or partial employment off the grounds of the center, the superintendent may consent to such employment; provided, that the terms of employment do not violate applicable labor or wage laws and that the minor returns to the center, or to his foster boarding home, each day after work.(b) From the net earnings of a minor, employed as permitted by this section, the superintendent of the youth development center shall transmit twenty-five percent thereof to the Department of Revenue for deposit in the State Treasury as partial compensation for the State's share in the cost of his care and shall transmit twenty-five percent to the county from which he was committed as similar partial compensation. The superintendent shall allow the minor reasonable pocket money from the balance and shall conserve the remainder to be paid to the minor on his release or discharge.1967, June 13, P.L. 31, No. 21, art. 3, § 344.
