Section 55624.2 - Membership of associations; expenses of members
(a) The board of commissioners, newly elected township commissioners prior to officially taking office and other township officers designated by the board shall attend the conferences or educational training whenever possible. A township officer attending a conference or educational training shall receive a certificate, signed by the presiding officer and secretary or acting secretary of the association, attesting to the township officer's presence at the conference or educational training.
(b) The certificate shall authorize an officer to collect from the township treasurer expenses which shall be limited to the registration fee, mileage for use of personal vehicle or reimbursement of actual transportation expense going to and returning from a conference or educational training, plus all other actual expenses that the board of commissioners may have agreed to pay. Each officer attending a conference or educational training shall submit to the board of commissioners an itemized account of expenses incurred.
(c) The board of commissioners may authorize township employes to be compensated at their regular employe rate during their attendance at a conference or educational training. The board of commissioners may authorize a commissioner to receive total or partial reimbursement for lost wages or salary while attending the conference or educational training if sufficient documentation of the wages or salary is presented to the board of commissioners to justify the reimbursement.
