Section 24102 - Disposition of property not needed for public use

It shall be lawful and the right is hereby conferred upon any city of the second class in this Commonwealth to use the land for other city purposes or to lease or to sell or otherwise dispose of its right, title, and interest in property, or a portion thereof, taken or appropriated for a public park or for public use, at public auction upon sealed bids or at private sale with approval of the court of common pleas: Provided, however, That city council shall first determine, by ordinance or resolution, that the property is no longer needed or required for park purposes or for public use: And provided further, That before any such sale is made council shall advertise said proposed sale twice in at least one newspaper of general circulation printed in such city.
