Any beneficiary of the fund who may obtain employment in service of the city itself shall suffer suspension of his pension from the fund during the time of such employment. If any beneficiary shall die before receiving in pension, a sum equal to the beneficiary's total contributions to the fund, such difference shall be paid to the beneficiary's surviving spouse, or, if no surviving spouse survives, to the beneficiary's executor or administrator.
