Section 16982 - Redemption from sales for taxes, municipal claims, etc

All sales for registered taxes, municipal claims, assessments for removing nuisances, or other charges by the city, assessed on real estate, shall be subject to redemption by the owner at any time within two years from the date of the acknowledgment of the sheriff's deed therefor, upon payment of all costs and charges, and twenty per cent. upon the amount for which the property has sold; and any person entitled so to redeem may present a petition to the court from which the process issued, setting forth the facts and his readiness to pay the redemption-money as aforesaid; whereupon the court shall grant a rule to show cause why the purchaser shall not reconvey to him the premises sold, to be served as a summons in actions of partition; and if the petitioner shall prove the facts, to give him a right to redeem, the court shall make such rule absolute, and enforce it by attachment.
