Every society authorized to do business in this Commonwealth shall be subject to the provisions of the act of July 22, 1974 (P.L. 589, No. 205), known as the Unfair Insurance Practices Act, but nothing in that act shall be construed as applying to or affecting the right of any society to determine its eligibility requirements for membership by reason of common bond or be construed as applying to or affecting the offering of benefits exclusively to members or persons eligible for membership in the society by a subsidiary corporation or affiliated organization organized to carry out the purposes set forth insection 2406(a)(2) .
