Section 653a - Construction and maintenance of turnpike authorized; revenue bonds authorized

In order to facilitate vehicular traffic between the eastern and western sections of the Commonwealth, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission heretofore created by virtue of the provisions of the act, approved the twenty-first day of May, 1937, Pamphlet Laws, 774, is hereby authorized and empowered to construct, operate and maintain a turnpike, at such location as shall be approved by the Governor and the Department of Highways, from a point at or near Middlesex in Cumberland County to a point at the City of Philadelphia, together with connecting roads, tunnels and bridges and to issue turnpike revenue bonds of the Commonwealth, payable solely from tolls, to pay the cost of such construction.
