Section 2546 - Resident county advisers and traveling experts in farm management; farmer's weeks, co-operative experiments, field demonstrations and extension work in general

In order to bring directly to the farmers of Pennsylvania the results of the thirty-one years of experiments conducted by the Agricultural Experiment Station in soil fertilization, farm crops, fruits, vegetable, dairying, poultry, and farm animals, and in order thereby to increase rural prosperity and to better rural conditions, the trustees of the Pennsylvania State College may employ and maintain resident county advisers and traveling experts in farm management; conduct farmers' weeks, co-operative experiments, and field demonstrations, for purposes of instruction; make exhibits and demonstrations at county fairs; prepare and operate exhibit cars; maintain reading and correspondence courses intended for rural communities; conduct contests among school children in growing corn, vegetables, fruit and flowers, and in preserving, canning, and sewing; co-operate with the State Superintendent of Public Instruction in advancing agricultural household management, nature study, and manual training, in the rural schools, in the normal schools, and in teachers' institutes; prepare, print and distribute pamphlets, leaflets and outlines; and conduct such other forms of extension work as may seem to the trustees of said institution practicable and profitable to the people of the State.
