Section 26-2603-I - Teacher recruitment assistance(a) General rule.--A qualified applicant who is selected in accordance with this article shall be eligible for an award by the agency of a portion of the debt incurred by the applicant through the agency-guaranteed Stafford or consolidation loan programs for the education necessary to be certified to teach in this Commonwealth.(b) Forgiveness of loan.--For each academic year that the eligible applicant is a full-time teacher in a designated Commonwealth rural or academic improvement public school district, the agency may forgive a proportional part of the applicant's loan over four years of full-time teaching. No more than $2,500 shall be forgiven in any year and no more than $10,000 shall be forgiven for any eligible applicant.(c) Payments.--Shall be made in accordance with procedures established by the agency.1949, March 10, P.L. 30, No. 14, art.
