Section 13-1316-B - School safety and security coordinator training.(a) Establishment.--No later than September 30, 2022, the committee shall develop required training criteria for a school safety and security coordinator. At a minimum, the training shall include: (1) Physical assessments and physical security.(2) Emergency preparedness.(4) Coordination and communication with law enforcement and emergency personnel.(5) Appropriate staffing.(6) Situational awareness.(7) Trauma-informed approaches.(8) Behavioral health awareness.(9) Suicide and bullying awareness.(10) Substance use disorder awareness.(11) Emergency procedures and training drills, including fire, natural disaster, active shooter, hostage situation and bomb threats.(b) Required training.--(1) The committee shall adopt the required training hours for the training developed under subsection (a). The committee may not require more than seven hours of training for the school safety and security coordinator annually. The training shall be in addition to other training requirements for school administrators.(2) Employees required to undergo continuing professional education under section 1205.2 and 1205.5 shall receive credit toward their continuing professional education requirements. (c)Training.--The committee shall make the training criteria developed under this section available to school administrators and groups, organizations or providers. A group, organization or provider that provides the training to school safety and security coordinators shall, at a minimum, meet the standards adopted by the committee.(d) Review.--The committee shall review and update, if necessary, the training criteria established under subsection (a) not less than every three years. If the committee updates the training criteria, the committee shall provide the criteria to school administrators and groups, organizations or providers.(e) Funding.--The amount of money under section 1306-B(h)(9) (iii) shall be used by the committee to provide training as required under this section. No less than four percent of the money available for use by the committee under this section shall be used to support the program in section 1303-D.Amended by P.L.
