Section 2-203 - Creation of new cities, boroughs and townships

When a new school district is formed by the creation of a new city, borough, or township, the court of common pleas having jurisdiction shall determine and enter in its decree the class of school districts to which such new district, if formed, shall belong, and if of the first, first class A, or second class, it shall thereupon become a new school district of such class. If the newly created city, borough, or township would constitute a school district of the fourth class, the court of common pleas having jurisdiction shall so certify and a new school district shall be formed only if and when it is approved by the Council of Basic Education as hereinafter provided.
