Section 526.065 - Authority to accept gifts and other donations for management of state forests and forest legacy programs; use of moneys in subaccount(1) The State Forestry Department may receive gifts, grants, bequests, endowments and donations of moneys, labor or materials from public and private sources for the purpose of contributing to the management and enhancement of state forests, including but not limited to activities such as recreation, education, interpretation, research and monitoring, cultural resources management and habitat improvement.(2) The department may apply for, accept and utilize grants from the federal government to accomplish the goals of a federal forest legacy program. In implementing the federal forest legacy program, the department shall ensure that the program complies with all land use laws and regulations.(3) On or before January 15 of each odd-numbered year, the State Forester shall report to the committee created by ORS 171.555 and to any legislative committee with responsibility for forestry issues regarding: (a) The number and monetary amounts of grants applied for under the federal forest legacy program;(b) The number and monetary amounts of grants awarded under the federal forest legacy program; and(c) The location and disposition of areas affected by the federal forest legacy program.(4) The department shall deposit moneys received under this section into the State Forest Enhancement Donation Subaccount created under ORS 526.060. The department may expend moneys, materials or labor received under this section only for the purposes specified in the gift, grant, bequest, endowment or donation.
