It shall be unlawful for any person to display any sign or to advertise in any manner representing to the public that he or she is an official or authorized licensed operator of the state, or that he or she has authority to register motor vehicles and issue license plates therefor, unless such person is a duly licensed and qualified licensed operator under the provisions of Section 1140 of this title; and it shall be unlawful for any person to solicit, accept or receive any gratuity or compensation for acting as a messenger or for acting as the agent or representative of another person in applying for the registration of a motor vehicle and obtaining the license plate therefor from Service Oklahoma or from any official and authorized licensed operator, or to advertise, solicit, or in any manner offer to render such services for hire or compensation unless the licensed operator has appointed, authorized and approved said person to perform such acts and said person shall furnish to the licensed operator of the county in which such service is performed a surety bond in such amount as said licensed operator shall determine to be commensurate with the amount of money which may be involved at any one time.
Any person violating the provisions hereof shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine of not more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or by imprisonment in the county jail for not exceeding one (1) year, or both. Each day that any such person advertises or in any manner offers to render such services to the public or to any person shall constitute a separate offense.
Nothing herein shall be construed as affecting or diminishing the responsibility and liability to Service Oklahoma of the official licensed operator or of his or her bond made to Service Oklahoma.
