Section 59A-21-24 - Assignment of interest under policyA. Subject to the terms of the policy relating to assignment of incidents of ownership, a person whose life is insured under any policy of group life insurance can assign all or any part of his incidents of ownership under the policy including any right to designate a beneficiary under the policy and any right to have an individual policy issued to him in accordance with Sections 416 through 419 [59A-21-19 to 59A-21-22 NMSA 1978] of this article.B. Subject to the terms of the policy relating to assignment of incidents of ownership, an assignment of the incidents of ownership by an insured, made either before or after March 8, 1969, is valid for the purpose of vesting in the assignee, in accordance with any provisions included in the assignment about the time at which it is to be effective, all of the incidents of ownership assigned, but without prejudice to the insurer on account of any payment it may make or individual policy it may issue in accordance with Sections 418 and 420 [59A-21-21 and 59A-21-23 NMSA 1978] of this article prior to receipt of notice of the assignment.Laws 1984, ch. 127, § 421.
