Section 2-14-2 - Chief clerks; interim activities authorizedA. The chief clerk of the house of representatives and other necessary support staff, not to exceed five full-time equivalents, including the chief clerk, are authorized to operate during the interim between regular legislative sessions to provide support to members of the house of representatives. B. The chief clerk of the senate and other necessary support staff, not to exceed five full-time equivalents, including the chief clerk, are authorized to operate during the interim between regular legislative sessions to provide support to members of the senate. C. During the interim, the chief clerks shall report to the legislative council. In addition to the duties established in Section 2-14-3 NMSA 1978, the legislative council may establish other interim duties for the chief clerks. Except as provided in Section 2-14-3 NMSA 1978, any duty established by the legislative council shall not overlap or conflict with any duty established for the legislative council service, the legislative education study committee, the legislative finance committee or any other committee created by statute or by the legislative council. 1978 Comp., § 2-14-2, enacted by Laws 1993, ch. 3, § 2.
