Section 18A:40A-2.1 - Substance use instruction, review of curriculum; reporta. The Department of Education, in consultation with the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services in the Department of Human Services, shall review the Core Curriculum Content Standards in Comprehensive Health and Physical Education to ensure that guidance for substance use instruction incorporates the most recent evidence-based standards and practices.b. Within 120 days of the effective date of this act, the department shall issue a written report to the Governor, to the State Board of Education, and to the Legislature as provided under section 2 of P.L. 1991, c. 164(C.52:14-19.1), with its determination on whether the Core Curriculum Content Standards in Comprehensive Health and Physical Education adequately incorporate the most recent evidence-based standards and practices pursuant to subsection a. of this section. If the department determines that the Core Curriculum Content Standards in Comprehensive Health and Physical Education need to be revised, it shall propose the revisions to the State board within 12 months of the report's submission.Amended by L. 2023, c. 177, s. 36, eff. 11/20/2023.Added by L. 2016, c. 46,s. 1, eff. 9/6/2016.
