Section 388.020 - Kinds of public schools1. An elementary school is a public school in which grade work is not given above that included in the eighth grade, according to the regularly adopted state course of study.2. A junior high or middle school is a public school in which the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grades are taught under a course of study prescribed and approved by the State Board. The school is an elementary or secondary school for the purpose of the licensure of teachers.3. A high school is a public school in which subjects above the eighth grade, according to the state course of study, may be taught. The school is a secondary school for the purpose of the licensure of teachers.4. A special school is an organized unit of instruction operating with approval of the State Board.5. A charter school is a public school that is formed pursuant to the provisions of chapter 388A of NRS.6.
