Section 293.185 - Appropriate filing officer for filing declaration of candidacy A declaration of candidacy must be filed with the appropriate filing officer, during regular office hours, as follows:
1. For United States Senator, Representative in Congress, statewide offices, State Senators, Assemblymen and Assemblywomen to be elected from districts comprising more than one county, and all other offices whose districts comprise more than one county, with the Secretary of State.2.
