Section 243.010 - Creation-1861; boundaries redefined 1951 and 1983

There shall be a county, to be known as Churchill County, to include all that part of the State of Nevada within the boundaries described as follows: Beginning at the southeast corner of Lyon County, and running thence east along the northern line of Esmeralda County to the northeast corner of Esmeralda County; thence northeast to the southwest corner of Lander County; thence north along the western line of Lander County to the 40th degree of north latitude; thence west along the 40th degree of north latitude to where it strikes the eastern boundary line of Washoe County; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of Washoe County to a point 100 feet north of the centerline of the abandoned Central Pacific Railroad; thence northeasterly along the north side of the abandoned Central Pacific Railroad and parallel thereto, at a distance from the centerline thereof of 100 feet, to a point 100 feet northwesterly of the centerline of state highway Route 1 (U.S. 40), that point bearing N. 1°57'03" W. a distance of 1,396.21 feet from the south quarter section corner of Section 5, T. 20 N., R. 25 E., M.D.B. & M.; thence N. 46°09'30" E. along a line 100 feet northwesterly of and parallel to the centerline of state highway Route 1 (U.S. 40) a distance of 5,513.00 feet, more or less, to a point 100 feet northwesterly of the centerline of the abandoned Central Pacific Railroad, the point bearing S. 75°38'21" W. a distance of 1,429.07 feet from the south quarter section corner of Section 33, T. 21 N., R. 25 E., M.D.B. & M.; thence northeasterly along the north side of the abandoned Central Pacific Railroad, parallel thereto and at a distance from the centerline thereof of 100 feet, to a point 16 miles from the east side of the bridge across the Truckee River, belonging to the Central Pacific Railroad Company, at the Town of Wadsworth; thence southerly to a point on the Carson River 3 miles below Honey Lake, Smith's Old Station; thence southerly to the point of beginning.
